Snowglobe

Just a quickie.

My brother Kyle returned recently from his YWAM mission trip, with a bunch of awesome stories. Sometimes I think I'd rather live in a poor little community in a third world country, where life isn't so buried under stuff. I'm not a Luddite or anti-American, but there's something different there, in that lifestyle. Of course, one can still make choices here that will lead down that road. And there are orphans and widows who need help no matter where you live.

  1. there is something to be said for the "stuff" less life. "stuff" being physical and figurative. visiting poorer cultures pretty much always leaves people with a sense of gratitude for what they have, but only sometimes does the value of that "stuff" less-ness wear off on the visitor. people who live in those cultures may have a lot less..but they feel a lot more...they value more important "stuff." in a way, i envy them.

  2. ...and as someone who likes to wax poetic about living the simple life, i sure have a lot of "stuff" i should get rid of. :/

  3. Well, as someone who likes to spout James 1:27 sometimes, I don't find myself actively helping orphans or widows very much. Maybe a few puppet shows in the past...
