Elisha
This story from 2 Kings chapter 2 is one of those more harsh sounding ones. But I guess you don't mess with a prophet of God.

Pet Rock cont.
I wonder how far rocks actually travel. One might start out frozen in a glacier, get washed down a river in meltwater, and end up on the beach of an inlet. A youngster might pick it up and add it to his/her collection, then move to the other side of the world. Maybe the rock even started out as a meteorite! (I don't know how common those are to find.)
When I pick through the glittering stones in a shallow stream, I wonder why there should be so many different colors and textures. I think they were meant to be enjoyed by eyes like mine, just like birds and fish that have colorful patterns which can only be appreciated by eyes that are conscious of beauty.
Oh yeah, I still have a small rock and shell collection. Picture time!

Pet Rock...
This is a rather aimless adventure, but I can't change it now!
I used to have some pet rocks. They didn't look like this one though; they were basically one flat rock with a smaller one glued on top for a head, and maybe four pebbles glued around the sides for legs. And buttons for eyes. And some colorful paint. Fun to make, but then they just sit on the windowsill. Actually, they'd be good for in a planter, if you used permanent glue.
(The gnomes are a bit jealous, being made of concrete and therefore more susceptible to acid rain. At least, I think that's the case.)

Andy Ant
Here's a comic from when I was 16. I always liked making up little animal stories.
Oh no!
Notice the strange dark rock at the bottom of the waterfall. That means it was covering up something I didn't like. After drawing all the panels I probably went back and tried to add more to the splashing water, and went too far and had to "fix" it with a rock.
Also, in the next picture I see that Andy has his own mini Bible. =D

Veggie Medley
Okay, so I realize that not all these guys are technically vegetables, but I've given up on trying to discern between all the botanical and culinary (and regional) classifying rules. To me these are all on the veggie side.

Face It
You know how all your "stuff" looks worse to you than to everyone else? Your face, hair, body, clothes, personality, intelligence, accomplishments, personal taste, spiritual life...and the list goes on. Well, there's truth in that. Your problems are always going to be magnified in your eyes. It's also true that sometimes you can't help thinking people are not being entirely honest with you. Whether it's favoritism or "softening the blow" on their part, or intended encouragement, or seeing you as a person instead of the obvious flaws you're pointing out, or perhaps it's simply indifference or lack of care. Sometimes you feel like the only one in your corner. When you voice a massive concern and get the, "Oh it's nothing, don't worry about it" reply, it doesn't exactly feel like you're being taken seriously. Or how about the, "It's all in your head" brush-off? Great, now I'm mental too! (But then, sometimes you crawl into a corner on purpose and you're the only VIP allowed to your little party of pity. =P)
Whatever the case, it's nice to know it all stems from selfishness, intended or not. Too much me-me-me. It's all my fault. Add another fault to the list....oh wait, heheh. Selfishness can be replaced with love though. My first reaction is always to think: "So now I'm being selfish for feeling BAD? I can't win!" But then my next thought is that I'm the only one who is stealing my happiness. It's kind of a catch 22, because there are personal things that work against you that you ultimately have no control over, but it's still your choice how to react and work with what you've got. That's not existentialist, that's biblical. Be thankful and love your neighbor.
Ugh, that all sounded too psychological for me. I'll have to think of something actually funny next time.

Colorful Jungle
This is like one of those impressionistic paintings. Now someone give me half a mil for five minutes of work.

Chocolandria
Float down the chocolate river and into Cocoa Lake, where in the distance you will see whipped cream dunes and jello mountains....
Yeah, I like natural foods, but I also have a sweet tooth.

Forager
The "poisonous plant fable" is a term that wild foods expert Samuel Thayer uses to describe the fear (of the unknown) spread among the general public about foraging. It's the kind of propaganda that sensationalized the deaths of people like Chris McCandless and Euell Gibbons. Not that you can't hurt yourself if you're not careful, but the thought is that plants look so much alike that even an experienced forager could pick the wrong one by mistake. That's like saying you could mistake your own family member in a crowd. Well, from the front at least!
Anyway, I only know a puny amount about wild food, but it really interests me. A true hunter and gatherer would have to devote lots and LOTS of time to reap a significant harvest, but I like knowing that it's at least a healthy supplement to my modern life of dependence. Although...I tend to get a little self-righteous about the things I'm passionate about. ;)

Guy
I tried drawing a human again. He looks as stiff as a mannequin, but the "chibi" version on the right is more my style. I like cartoons, after all.
In other news: I still haven't found a way into Narnia.

Sin and Consequences
Silly humans! How quickly we forget/never learn/do it again anyway. We know the resultant pain is not worth the indulgence of sin, but we're a broken record. How can I choose to do what ALWAYS hurts me, and not do what ALWAYS gives me peace? Nuts, I tell you.

Spider!
Usually it's just the daddy longlegs that inhabit bathrooms (which technically are arachnids but not spiders), and they can't do you any harm, but I still keep my eye on them. They're real good at tickling.

Anger
This is what I feel like doing sometimes when I'm trying to draw and nothing works out right. (Happens all the time when I try to draw people or symmetrical objects.) But I don't do it, because that would be bad. And it would only compound the problem. So I must illustrate my frustrations.

Fireworks
This one was easy. Just draw lines and add dots! (Well, I guess you could say that about any drawing if you're a super amazing artist.) Fireworks never get old. They wouldn't seem so special if you saw them every week, but they would still be well worth watching. I know this because campfires and bonfires never get old.

Detective Caraway 5 & 6
As a kid it kinda used to bother me when the ghosts or monsters in a cartoon always ended up being a guy in a suit at the end. Always the same thing. I didn't believe in ghosts, but it still disappointed me. The problem was that when they'd show the ghost at the beginning, it would be floating and moving in a way that a guy in a suit couldn't possibly move. It would suddenly appear in front and then in back of its victims, or other things humanly impossible. And then it gets caught at the end and it's just a normal dude in a sheet.
Similarly, I don't like when books pull the same stunt and then explain it all away by saying it was in the person's mind. Or a split personality. There are some stories that pull off the split personality thing well, but now I've seen it used too much. It seems like a cheap way out of an impossibly amazing plot. Not that I can do any better, mind you. ^_^
