Pet Rock cont.

I wonder how far rocks actually travel. One might start out frozen in a glacier, get washed down a river in meltwater, and end up on the beach of an inlet. A youngster might pick it up and add it to his/her collection, then move to the other side of the world. Maybe the rock even started out as a meteorite! (I don't know how common those are to find.)
When I pick through the glittering stones in a shallow stream, I wonder why there should be so many different colors and textures. I think they were meant to be enjoyed by eyes like mine, just like birds and fish that have colorful patterns which can only be appreciated by eyes that are conscious of beauty.

Oh yeah, I still have a small rock and shell collection. Picture time!
